There is no official one million dollar coin in Toronto or Canada. However, the Royal Canadian Mint did produce a special edition one million dollar coin, which is made of 100 kg of .9999 pure gold and has a face value of one million Canadian dollars.
The coin was created in 2007 to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the Royal Canadian Mint, and only five of these coins were produced. The design of the coin features a maple leaf, a common symbol of Canada, and the Queen’s portrait, as she is the head of state of Canada.
While the coin has a face value of one million dollars, its actual market value is determined by the weight and purity of the gold it contains, as well as its rarity and collectibility. In 2021, one of the five one million dollar coins was sold at auction for over four million Canadian dollars.
